The group is driven by the vision and mission of being “a knowledge corporation” and move forward in the publishing domain both print & digital. Group is racing ahead with a mission of pioneering innovative publications in schools segment, higher education, management, engineering and vocational education. Group aims at nurturing people at all levels by facilitating their growth and needs as it thoroughly believes that people are the greatest strength to any organisation. It also aims at being transparent in its vision, objectives, working and looks forward to honesty, integrity and commitment. Expects and trains its people to take ownership of responsibilities entrusted. This applies to professional commitments, promoting the culture of the organisation and achieving organizational goals.

Our predecessor, S. Chand & Co., was established in 1939 with a vision to make quality education accessible across India. Founded by Padma Shri Shri Shyam Lal Gupta, a pioneer in the Indian publishing industry, the organisation was built on the belief that knowledge can shape a better future. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 1969.

Building on this strong foundation, the Company was incorporated in 1970 as S. Chand & Co. Private Limited. Over the decades, it has grown through continuous innovation and commitment to the education sector. In September 2016, the Company was converted into a public limited company and renamed S Chand and Company Limited.
